Staining: HE

Organ: Curettage from endometrium

Description:

As the sample has been obtained by curettage is most of the tissue architecture gone. Compared to the endometrial hyperplasia slide from patho 1 we can see that the endometrium consists only of glands and lacks any stroma, which is characteristic for cancer. The glands themselves show only mild atypia.

There are some pieces of cardiac muscle on the slide. This is only for the purposes of identification and not related to the actual endometrial sample.

Diagnosis: (Endometrioid type) endometrial carcinoma

Risk factors:

  • Nulliparity
  • Metabolic syndrome

Theory:

Nothing in particular.
